First-party market data
The Palletmove used pallet market report
Pallet buyers are given a great deal of opinion about the used-pallet market and very little data. We are building a recurring report drawn from our own operational record — what we are asked for, what we collect, and how availability moves through the year. This page sets out the method first, so that when the numbers arrive you can see exactly where they came from.
Current status
No edition has been published yet
The framework below is settled. The first edition will be published once we have a full reporting period of clean data behind it.
Method
What each edition will report, and how
Stated in advance so the method cannot be adjusted after the fact to suit the finding.
| Measure | Source | Stated alongside it |
|---|---|---|
| Demand mix by pallet category | Our own enquiry and order records for the period, categorised as they are quoted. | The number of records behind the figure and the period covered. |
| Supply availability of used stock | Collection and intake volumes recorded at our own operation. | Whether the movement is seasonal, and the comparable prior period. |
| Footprint split | Recorded footprints across supply and collection work. | That the split reflects our territory and customer base, not the UK as a whole. |
| Condition and repairability | Grading outcomes on stock we take in. | The grading basis used, since grade language is not standardised. |
| Regional notes | Our genuine operating territory only. | That we do not report on areas we do not serve. |
Rules the report holds itself to
- Every figure comes from Palletmove's own operational records.
- The reporting period and the sample size are always stated.
- No figure is presented as a national market statistic.
- No price index, carbon figure or forecast is published without a stated method.
- Where a period is unusual, we say so rather than smoothing it away.
- Corrections are published against the edition they affect.
Who it is for
Procurement and warehouse managers planning budgets and stock cover, and operations teams trying to work out whether a change they are seeing is their own supply chain or the wider market.
If you would find a particular measure useful, tell us — it is easier to add before the first edition than after. Get in touch and mention the market report.
